Clock & Watch Repair & Servicing In The Cotswolds
Antique clock and watch repair, servicing and restoration. I cover all of the Midlands, Cotswolds and the South West of England.

All repair work comes with a 12-month guarantee, and I am fully insured to work on your clocks and watches.
I specialise in antique clock & watch repair, servicing and clock restoration
If your antique clock needs a repair, service, or comprehensive restoration, I am a highly skilled and knowledgeable clockmaker, dedicated cabinetmaker, and French polisher. I have a fully equipped precision horological workshop, so I can complete even the most complex clock repair, clock restoration, or parts manufacturing in my own workshop.

South West Clock & Watch Restoration Specialists
I offer a full clock repair and restoration service for every discipline of restoration work that may be required. This includes movements, dials, and cases, along with silvering, gilding, and hand engraving. Whether it is a complete re-painting of a dial or the sympathetic restoration of existing work, this sits perfectly within our expert capabilities.
We carry out most work in-house in our well-equipped horology workshop in Gloucestershire. You are welcome to visit my shop in Stonehouse. It’s a great place to drop off your clock and explore the local area. Stonehouse High Street has a wealth of shops and good restaurants, and the town is nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds.
When restoring clocks, we understand the original style and appearance of your clock. We preserve your clock’s period integrity by using only traditional period materials and techniques, ensuring it is accurately restored to its former glory.
Clock servicing
A clock service comprises the following stages:
- Removing the movement from the case
- Disassembly of the movement
- Cleaning of the movement components
- Inspection for wear and damage of every component
- Repairs as necessary, based on the previous steps, with any required bushing and replacement of component springs
- Reassembly of the movement with testing and regulation outside of the case
- Case cleaning and refitting of the movement, along with testing to ensure accuracy and functionality

How I work
My specialist clock and watch workshop is in a private, secure location where we restore your clock. You can drop off your clock or watch at my high street shop in Stonehouse, or I can collect it if you prefer. I offer a full collection, delivery and set-up service; please call for more details. If requested, I will make an appointment to come out and collect your clock from your home. This service is subject to a call-out charge that reflects the distance I have to travel.
Once your clock arrives at the workshop, I will inspect it fully. If the work needed exceeds the price guide, I will contact you with a new price, including an estimated timescale for completion. If you do not wish to proceed, you can collect the clock or watch from the showroom free of charge. If you wish to proceed, we will produce an invoice and require 50% upfront before work commences. When the work is complete, you can pay the outstanding 50% on collection or delivery.
We can make an appointment to deliver and set up your clock in situ at an agreed charge, or you can collect from the showroom free of charge. Just let me know when you are coming so we can have the clock ready for you. On collection or delivery, we also explain the best way to operate and care for your clock going forward, along with a printed copy of operation and care instructions.
Turnaround times vary for clock service and clock repair work, but this typically takes around 10 to 12 weeks.
Clocks I love to work on
Vintage Clocks specialises in most mechanical antique clocks, with 25 years’ experience working alongside the BHI. I also repair and service quality modern mechanical clocks, including longcase clocks, grandfather clocks, floor clocks, regulator clocks, bracket clocks, mantel clocks, carriage clocks, wall clocks, Vienna wall clocks, torsion clocks, cuckoo clocks, and Atmos clocks.
I will replace glass or carry out a minor repair, dial restoration, silvering or gilding if required, but only if I am servicing or overhauling your clock at the same time.
Clocks I do not work on
I am sorry, I do not work on flipcard clocks, or quartz or mains-powered clocks.
What Our Clients Say
I purchased a fine English longcase clock, and it was delivered within 5 days. The clock was individually packed with full set-up instructions. I struggled slightly, so I called their support desk and spoke directly with their clock expert. They solved my set-up issue over the phone.

Customer
I bought a huge triple fusee bracket clock. The clock is outstanding, a lot better than the photos would suggest. Thank you, delighted with Vintage Clocks. I have also just taken in a grandfather clock to have the dial restored as it’s very dull. Can’t wait to get the clock back!
