Carriage Clock

Discover our collection of authentic 19th and early 20th century antique carriage clocks. Built for the travellers of the Victorian and Edwardian eras, these brass and glass pieces combine fine clockmaking with rugged durability.

Originally known in France as pendules de voyage, the carriage clock was invented by Abraham-Louis Breguet in the early 1800s. Unlike household clocks with delicate pendulums, carriage clocks use a platform escapement, similar to a pocket watch, so they keep time while on the move.

Look out for the classic Obis case with its clean, straight lines, the more architectural Anglaise case, the gently curved Corniche case, and the highly ornate Gorgone and caryatid cases.
