The Maker (Henry Marc): Operating from Paris in the mid-19th century, Henry Marc was renowned for high-quality “Pendule de Paris” 8-day mechanical movements. His clocks typically feature a twin-barrel setup with an outside count-wheel striking the hours and half-hours on a silvered bell.
The Case Style (MOP & Ormolu): Most standard mantel clocks of this era used slate, marble, or porcelain. A full Mother of Pearl veneered case—often paired with intricate brass or tortoiseshell inlay in the Boulle style—is exceptionally rare. The contrasting, finely-chased ormolu (gold-mercury gilded bronze) mounts indicate a luxury tier item.
