Description

Antique German Walnut Ting-Tang Quarter Striking Bracket Clock by H.A.C. – Circa 1900

Up for sale is a magnificent antique German bracket/mantel clock manufactured by the highly regarded Hamburg American Clock Company (H.A.C.). This exceptional timepiece features a heavy-duty mechanical “Ting-Tang” quarter-striking movement, clearly authenticated by the famous H.A.C. “Crossed Arrows” trademark stamped directly on the cast iron gong bracket inside the rear case.

The clock is housed in a beautifully figured walnut wooden case boasting a prominent, elegantly curved bell-top/gothic arched crest adorned with three turned contrasting finials. The architectural front features twin ebonized pilasters with inset block moldings and a solid plinth base resting on neat bracket feet.

The arched brass dial plate is exceptionally ornate, decorated with elaborate gilt-brass corner spandrels and a matching regal crown mask emblem filling the top arch. It features a silvered chapter ring with bold Roman numerals, a matted textured brass center, and finely detailed hands. The clock strikes the quarters on a two-note “Ting-Tang” melody using internal coiled gongs and strikes the full hours.

The clock is in full working order and comes complete with its pendulum and winding key.
