An exceptional, highly investment-worthy 18th-century George III longcase clock, featuring a rare and magnificent scarlet red and gilt japanned finish [1.12]. A true statement masterpiece, this clock showcases the pinnacle of Georgian luxury, combining fine British horology with the most coveted colorway of the Chinoiserie era

This magnificent clock represents the peak of the 18th-century European obsession with exotic Eastern aesthetics. While black japanned clocks were more common, vibrant red lacquer finishes were reserved for the wealthiest patrons and most prestigious commissions

The slim period case is enveloped in layers of brilliant, deep scarlet red varnish. The entire surface is beautifully hand-decorated with raised, gilded, and polychrome Chinoiserie scenes [1.12]. Intricate portrayals of pagodas, multi-tiered pavilions, exotic birds, and figures in traditional dress span the trunk door and base panel, creating a vivid, contrasting spectacle against the scarlet backdrop [1.12].

The hood features a classic break-arch top with giltwood finials and supporting pillars. This opens to a beautiful 12-inch arched brass dial featuring intricately cast corner spandrels, a matted center, a date aperture, a secondary seconds dial, and Roman and Arabic numeral tracks 

Powered by a high-grade, 8-day weight-driven movement, the clock retains its original mechanical integrity, striking the hour on a crisp, resonant bell.
